Nepal cricketer Subash Khakurel to play in Victorian Premier League in Australia

napliniSubash Khakurel, the wicket-keeper batsman of Nepal, is all set to represent Greenvale Kangaroo in Victorian Premier League tournament in Australia in the upcoming season. He will join another Nepal cricketer Sunam Gautam who was given two years contract in 2014 by this Melbourne based club. Khalkurel is currently in Brisbane and will join with the club next week. The league is scheduled to start from October 4. Coach of Greenvale Kangaroo, Former Sri Lankan First-Class cricket player and former Sri Lanka A coach Stan Nell observed Subash Khakurel has played vital role behind the selection of Khakurel.

After getting this contract, an excited Khakurel said, “We are not getting enough exposure, We should prove that Nepalese can play well if they get chance”. However, recently, International Cricket Council (ICC) recently shifted the Qualifiers of Under-19 World Cup 2016 from Nepal to Malaysia. It will be played from October 14 to 23. Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) lost the hosting rights for the tournament primarily due to the earthquake disaster and the continuous aftershocks which devastated the Himalayan nation earlier this year. ICC feels, at this moment, CAN doesn’t have sufficient infrastructure to host this tournament.
