THE Malaysia soccer team will use the game against the Vodafone Fiji team to test their combination for the South East Asia Cup tournament later in the year.
Head coach Ong Kim Swee said the main aim of the Pacific tour was to expose his troops and a win was not their ultimate goal.
He said the Fijians would be a tough nut to crack but was confident his boys had what it took to deliver the outcome he wanted.
The side lost to Papua New Guinea in their first game but pulled one back against New Caledonia with 2-1 win before facing the Fijians in their last game tomorrow.
“Most importantly for us when we come here is not to win all matches but these three games are very important to expose all players in the squad and that is much more important,” said Swee.
“We understand that Fiji is preparing for the Rio Olympics and they will be tough. Also for us we are preparing for the South East Asia Cup tournament and this game will benefit both teams.”
Swee said the game against PNG and New Caledonia would give his boys some understanding of what to expect against the Fijians.
He said the locals would be hard to beat after returning from the Pacific championships.
“We are hoping for a very good game and we will use this game to test all players.”
Meanwhile, Fiji coach Frank Farina is expected to field a star-studded Fiji team for the game.
Some of the players likely to make the run on team are prolific goal scorer Roy Krishna, Iosefo Verevou, Samuela Kautoga, AlvIN Singh, Manasa Navakula, Jale Dreloa, Kolinio Sivoki, Ilaitia Tuilau, Ilimotama Jese and Beniamoni Mateinaqara. The game will be held at Nadi’s Prince Charles Park, 2pm
