Fijian Banuve wins in Australia

banavuSPRINTER Banuve Tabakaucoro won the 100 metres final at the Melbourne Classic World Challenge meet.

The Bau man ran in 10.46 seconds while Australia’s Andrew McCabe came in second with a time of 10.61 seconds.

This is encouraging result for the fastest man in the Pacific as he gears up to defend his title at the Pacific Games in July in Papua New Guinea.

The time is also the fastest Tabakaucoro has run this year.

However, he did not have enough speed in the 200m to earn a medal placing.

In the 200m he clocked a time of 21.4 seconds to finish 5th.

Tabakaucoro competes now in the Australian Championship next week.

Tabakaucoro is the reigning champion in the 100 metres in the Pacific.
